Power Ripples And Personal Development

There is a law of chaos that is called the butterfly effect. This law states that small changes in one place can can a huge impact on another place over time. The most common explanation of the butterfly effect is to say that if a butterfly flaps its wings in Tokyo it can cause a hurricane in New York!

If you have ever watched the film "A Wonderful Life", with Jimmy Stewart, you will see how the butterfly effect works. The film by the same name, "The Butterfly Effect", is also a great example of this powerful law.

In "Its a Wonderful Life", Jimmy Stewart's character has experienced a sequence of stressful and negative events that leads him to attempt suicide. An angel is sent from heaven to rescuse the man. To his dismay the man is saved. So he wishes that he had never been born and had never existed. The angel grants him his wish. The man then views and interacts with the world as though he had never been born and sees how people, places, events and outcomes have changed because he was not there to change them through his interaction with them. Even small things he had done made big changes because in this reality he had not done them!

The second film shows how one man can time travel to his own past. Merely by looking at a picture from his past he can enter that time and the body of his former self while retaining all his knowledge about the present. He then uses this ability to make small changes that have a dramatic effect on his world when he returns to his own time.

These films are perfect examples of the butterfly effect. They show how little changes made can have a huge impact on future events, people and circumstances.

Using the same principle you can make small, minor and almost insignificant changes in your life now that will have a dramatic effect on your future through the butterfly effect. A stone thrown into a pond will create small ripples that travel far!

How many times have we heard of a person who buys a lottery ticket on a whim and wins a fortune? Such a tiny event as buying a ticket had such a profound and huge impact on the person's life that they would never be the same again! This may not be a common occurrence but such dramatic effects can be the smae for you.

Paul Burrell, butler to the Queen and princess Diana, had the chance to join a cruise ship or Buckingham Palace. His mother did not want him to work far away so she hid the letter of acceptance from the cruise ship and gave him the acceptance letter from the Palace instead. Paul Burrell's mother's decidon and actions was to have a huge impact on his life and change it forever!

Paul Burrell went from an almost enviable life of eventually working down the mines in his home town, with poverty and hardship all around him, to working directly for the Queen, then Prince Charles, then Princess Diana. Currently he works in the United States, is a house-hold name in the UK and has earned millions of dollars!

From little acorns grow mighty oaks!

Likewise, how many small events, decisions and actions that you have taken have shaped the life you are currently living?

Make your mind up now to set small personal development goals and take action. The small actions you take now will have huge impact on your future. Imagine what huge actions could do for your personal development and your future life?. by Michael McGrath

Happiness: Need Money? How About Blessings?

The Happy Musing for the Day: Give a quick thought to your concerns and a longer one to your blessings.

Well, we can't forget about our everyday life and our everyday demands and our everyday bills, but we mustn't let them consume us. Yes, a quick thought devoted to our concerns, then a plan of action, and then the best part -- thoughts about our blessings. There is no end to those.

At one point in my life I was gone. I was lost. I was on my way out. There was nothing left of me. I was on the verge of death. Then through a miraculous healing I was on the mend. I got better and better until I reached the point where I was well again. I was so grateful I vowed never to complain about anything from then on. I had dissolved to where there was nothing left of me but consciousness. I could see what was important -- life! Not things or circumstances, but life!

So, I remind myself that during these difficult times, it is more important than ever to be happy and grateful. If you're alive, it's enough. Anything on top of that is a bonus. This may be as good as it gets circumstance-wise. But there are still big areas of growth we can attain with our hearts and minds.

"Blessings" sounds like a religious term or a spiritual term. To me it is simply a life term. There are naught but blessings. These are gifts. When you have nothing, everything is a gift. Yes, if you really think about it, everything is a gift. From having family and friends to having a job or the possiblity of a job to having something to eat, a few clothes to wear and a place to sleep. These are the outside gifts, but there are the gifts inside -- our ability to love, our ability to reason and our senses, sight, hearing and so forth, which we would not trade for a million dollars. Blessings do come in all shapes and sizes.

I'm not being passive about the circumstances we find ourselves in these days. It is just that I have always found that circumstances improve tremendously when a happy and grateful attitude is maintained. And even if those circumstances do not improve, the time working to improve them is so much more enjoyable when the heart is happy and the point of view is positive.

So, I've come to the conclusion that the best way to circumvent the present circumstances we all find ourselves in is to see them as blessings, ones that forces us to stretch our collective smile!
